The lingam is an upright stone, which is often phallic in shape, and is a classic depiction of Shiva. There are two categories of lingam : the manuṣi-liṅga made by man, and the svayambhu-liṅga, a lingam created by itself, a natural element that is worshipped as a lingam, such as some stones.
Le lingam est une pierre verticale, de forme souvent phallique, et est une représentation classique de Shiva. Il existe deux catégories de lingams: le manuṣi-liṅga produit par l'homme et le svayambhu-liṅga, un lingam auto-créé, un élément naturel vénéré comme un lingam, comme certaines pierres.
